PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Function and selection basis

Ring-joint gaskets provide the metallic pressure seal between compatible ring-groove flanges. The gasket type, number, profile, material and hardness must match the mating flange standard, groove geometry, pressure duty, process fluid and temperature. R and RX types are associated with standard ring grooves, while BX is intended only for API 6BX grooves.

Solid-metal construction; welded ring construction is not accepted

Ring-gasket configurations

R-Oval

Standard R ring with an oval cross-section for compatible standard ring grooves.

Reference range: R11–R79 and R92

R-Octagonal

Standard R ring with an octagonal cross-section. It may replace an oval R ring only where the mating modern octagonal groove is compatible.

Reference range: R11–R105

RX

Pressure-energised adaptation of the R type, designed for the corresponding R-style groove. Interchangeability requires verification for the actual flange and duty.

Reference range: RX20–RX215

BX

High-pressure ring for API 6BX flanges and grooves only, incorporating a pressure-balance hole.

Reference range: BX150–BX303
