The tubing head spool is normally the uppermost spool in a conventional surface wellhead, installed above the production-casing spool. It provides the seal bore and retention system for the tubing hanger and the lower interface for the tree adapter.

FUNCTION & PURPOSE

What the equipment does

Suspends production tubing through the selected hanger
Provides the tubing-hanger seal bore
Uses lockdown screws to retain the hanger and energise seals
Supports BOP equipment during completion operations
Provides annulus and fluid-return outlets
Allows BOP pressure testing
Provides upper and lower flanged connections
Provides a lower-flange secondary seal and test port
