PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Purpose and operating principle

A dual-pot sand filter separates sand and other solid particles from mixed gas, oil and water streams before the fluid reaches chokes, valves, pipework and process equipment. Two filter vessels allow one pot to remain online while the other is isolated, depressurised and cleaned.

How the arrangement works

Solids-laden multiphase fluid enters the selected vessel and passes through a screen. Separated solids collect in the vessel hold-up section while screened fluid continues downstream. When cleaning is required, the flow is switched to the second pot; the isolated pot is safely depressurised, flushed and returned to standby or service. The final valve sequence and operating procedure must follow the approved package design.

Technical features

  • Two filter vessels connected through an isolation and bypass manifold
  • Continuous-operation arrangement while one vessel is cleaned
  • Screen-based separation without rotating process equipment
  • Solids hold-up and controlled flushing/purging arrangement
  • Low-maintenance pressure-containing package with replaceable screens
  • Package configuration available for the required vessel size, screen cut and solids loading
  • Protects downstream chokes, valves, piping and process vessels from erosive solids

Typical applications

  • Wellstream sand removal
  • Surface well-test clean-up
  • Flowback and early-production service
  • Coiled-tubing clean-up
  • Underbalanced-drilling returns
  • Onshore and offshore test packages
