PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Purpose and system role
A kill manifold provides a controlled, isolatable path between the high-pressure pumping system and the well-control equipment. Gate valves, check valves, blocks, spools and instrumentation are arranged to direct kill fluid toward the selected well inlet while helping prevent reverse flow into the pumping line.
Functions
- Routes kill-weight drilling fluid or other approved treatment fluid into the well
- Supports pressure balancing and well-control operations
- Provides redundant isolation where the operating philosophy requires it
- Uses check-valve protection to limit reverse flow toward pumps
- Enables local or remote monitoring of injection pressure
- Allows project-specific pump, BOP and choke/kill-line interfaces
Available configurations
- Single or multiple pump inlets
- One or more selectable discharge paths
- Manual or hydraulically actuated gate valves
- Skid-mounted package with instrumentation and optional control panel
- Standard, sour-service or harsh-environment construction
- Project-specific fixed, adjustable or automatic choke integration where required
Principal components
- Slab, expanding, rising-stem or non-rising-stem gate valves selected for the approved duty
- High-pressure check valves
- Forged blocks, tees, crosses and spools
- Pressure gauges, transmitters and bleed/test connections
- Flanged, studded, hub or approved union connections
- Structural skid, lifting lugs and protective supports
Typical applications
- Primary and secondary well-kill circulation
- High-pressure drilling operations
- Pressure-control fluid injection
- Standard and severe sour-service wells
- Rig and intervention pressure-control packages
