PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Purpose and system role
Installed downstream of the mud pumps, the standpipe manifold directs drilling fluid toward the selected standpipe and rotary hose. The arrangement can also include an adjustable choke for controlled drillpipe pressure bleed-off, reducing hydraulic shock when breaking circulation and supporting pressure management during selected stripping operations.
Functions
- Selects the active standpipe or drill-line route
- Isolates inactive branches and equipment
- Directs mud-pump discharge to the drillstring
- Allows controlled drillpipe-pressure bleed-off where a choke is fitted
- Helps reduce shock when circulation is broken in loss-prone wells
- Provides pressure measurement and sensor points
Available configurations
- Multiple standpipe branches
- 2 in to 5 in nominal sizes
- 5,000, 7,500 or 10,000 psi pressure classes
- Mud gate valves or Y-pattern valves
- Optional adjustable choke and bleed line
- Skid-mounted or permanently supported rig arrangement
Principal components
- API 6A-type mud valves or project-approved valves
- Adjustable choke for bleed-off duty where required
- Forged high-pressure fittings and branch connections
- Pressure gauges, sensors and transmitter connections
- Header, standpipe outlets and drain/bleed points
- Structural skid/supports and lifting provisions
Typical applications
- Rotary drilling-fluid circulation
- Mud-pump to standpipe distribution
- Pressure bleed-off before connections or maintenance
- Controlled circulation in loss-sensitive wells
- Pressure management between BOP elements during approved stripping procedures
